List of Materials and Processes - Traditional Yurt Collection



Structure (walls):










Material: Wood - Tamarack
Treatment: Kiln dried until residual humidity of 6%. Treated with two layers of water-based colored varnish.


Structure (roof rafters/huns):









Material: Wood - Tamarack
Treatment: Kiln dried until a residual humidity of  6%. Painted with two coats of water-based paint and one coat of water-based varnish. Oil paint used for decorative patterns.


Structure (door, dome/toono and bagaans):









Material: Wood - Siberian pine
Treatment: Air or oven-dried for residual humidity of 6%. Painted with two coats of water-based paint and one coat of water-based varnish. Oil paint used for decorative patterns.


Felt Insulation:










Material: 100% processed sheep's wool
Treatment: Processed in a needle machine and washed in water and steam jet at 100°C. Thickness: 1/2” to 1”


Ropes:










Material: Horse mane
Treatment: Cleaned in hot water at 60°C and dried


Canvas Covers (canvas/berzent, toono cover/urgh, decorative skirt/rayartch):









Material: 370gsm Poly-cotton (60% cotton, 40% polyester)
Treatment: Treated with water repellant, shrink resistant and tear-resistant.
