Building a Substructure with a Groovy Platform
So, you got a Groovy Platform. Now what?

Our platforms must be installed on a level surface, as the tongues need to fit into their grooves for both functional and structural reasons. If the surface is not level, the platform cannot click together.
Having a levelled substructure is the best way to optimize the functionality of our platforms.
To avoid the accumulation of standing water and favor ventilation, your substructure should be at least 10” off the ground.
Since our platforms are structural, a simplified freestanding deck sitting at a minimum of 10" of the ground is optimal. For plans click here.
We recommend installing our platforms right on the deck without deck boards for increased air flow and drainage.
It's also nicer on your wallet, as you use significantly less lumber in this scenario.
You may choose to simply build a standard deck frame spaced 12" or 16" of center using 2"x 6" joists as well. You can find more info on that here.
